Letting go of our EGO
I am sharing this information based on the book called ( A New Earth) by Eckhart tolle.
In the book introduces the concept of having an ego,who indicates with somebody who feels like they're a lot better than everyone else.
Instead I want u to see the ego as the identity that we've created about ourselves.
Example: I am creative, multitasker, hardworker also an anxious person all these positive or negative the ego is hidden in the Words...I,ME,MINE.
So what we do about all of this Tolle says,
That the key of to transcending the ego is to simply become aware of it.The problem of ego is hidden streams of unconscious thoughts that run through our head as soon as we become aware of that thoughts that camparing we are no longer the thoughts.We're now the awareness the person observing the thoughts the thoughts are just thoughts,the feeling are just feeling,but they're not us.We're not identify with it.
If we spot the ego,we just need to look for the trail of emotional drama,it leaves behind in our lives,it manifest itself in feeling of dissatisfaction, anxiety,anger, insecurity these feelings associated with our self image. So anytime you notice yourself saying words I,ME,MY,MINE.Chances we are playing ego.
We spot the ego is anything we feel like we don't have enough of something because the ego always wants more...more success,more money,more attention,more pleasure.Anytime it doesn't feel like it has enough of something it can make us feel like we're the once that aren't enough.The things with ego. Is we can never really fully get rid of it completely.How strong a role it plays in our lives depends on how much we let it run free unconsciously.
So how can we reduce it:
For one being more open and honest,you know sometimes a friend or family member asks how you're doing? and you're like oh yeah I'm really good even though you know,that's not true.Thats the ego it's trying to maintain a certain self-image maybe that of being happy or perfect so instead try being open and honest and tell the person how you feel this isn't just say go ahead and complain that would be the ego again, but just state the facts you'll notice that so much strees is lifted off of your shoulders when you do.
If we act in a selfless way for others people,this is another way we can transcend the ego.
Doing things not because we expect something in return but doing it because we feel it benifits the greater good in some other way.
Ego doesn't exist in our lives is when we're in the present moment bcoz the ego can't be busy thinking about the past or worrying about future when it's in the now or when we are in the now.
For everyone being in the present moment can come about it different ways,
Like meditating or excercising doing yoga, reading books whatever it is these movements the now when the ego isn't parsent in our lives.
These are only thought I have share with you if you want to go in depth read the book.
Just personifing the ego separating it from ourselves and observing it what it does,how it behave,it really helps to not put so much of pressure on ourselves at least.
